- Abstractness
- Speed of processing
- Amount of support
- Familiarity of the topic
- Expected response length
- Degree of spontaneity
A text may contain simple vocabulary but require advanced inference.
Define what the learner can do
Use communicative outcomes rather than level labels alone.
Example
Create a B1 activity in which the student describes a problem, explains what happened and asks for a practical solution.
This is more useful than simply requesting B1 speaking questions.
Scaffold the task
For lower levels, include:
- Model answers
- Sentence starters
- Vocabulary support
- Clear examples
- Shorter instructions
- Repetition
For higher levels, increase:
- Nuance
- Ambiguity
- Independence
- Register awareness
- Argumentation
- Precision
Maintain the level across the lesson
An AI-generated lesson may begin at B1 and gradually move toward C1 because the reading, instructions and discussion become more complex.

Students rarely develop every skill at the same speed.
A learner may have B2 reading comprehension but A2 speaking confidence. Another may communicate effectively while making persistent grammatical mistakes.
